When a photograph of electro-pop musician Grimes appeared on my Instagram feed, my eyes were drawn, not to the intended attention-grabber of the post (her flamboyant getup) but to the photography displayed on the wall behind her.

A quick Google investigation revealed it to be the work of Slim Aarons who photographed elite luxury sky slopes in the 1960s. There's a timeless, magical quality to scenes of crowds in the snow which has inspired artists like Aarons and Lowry (who famously painted snow-decked Manchester streets) throughout history.
Queen's Park Glasgow in the snow
Our own Lowry moments have come from visiting our local park, Queen's Park in the south side of Glasgow. In the winters when it's snowed heavily enough to blanket the city, the park turns into a winter wonderland filled with locals pulling sledges, building snowmen and trudging ankle-deep through the crunchy white flakes.
Here are the Queen's Park snow scenes we've captured (all of which are available as prints in our shop).
