The demolition people didn't realise the time of the demolition so we ended up waiting with our camera for hours! We set up our camera in fast shutter mode and captured a number of pictures of the demolition but this one was the best.
The Red Road flats were an iconic part of Glasgow history. Located in Springburn, at the time of their construction they were the tallest buildings in Western Europe. Their aim was to house the people moved from the overcrowded slums of Glasgow but they ended up being associated with crime, drug and alcohol abuse and anti social behaviour and in 2015 they were demolished.
This photo would be perfect for those who know and love Glasgow, maybe those who have a special association with the Red Road Flats, and those who love a good architecture or demolition photo. Or just anyone who simply likes the picture!
Also, if you look really carefully, can you see a scary face formed in the dust between the two towers closest to the left?
