Salvador de Bahia is the epicentre of Afro Brazil culture. Those who were brought to Brazil from Africa as slaves established their own culture and traditions, such as music, cuisine and even their own martial arts, which continue to thrive in the city today. This photography print was taken outside the city's World Cup stadium and show statues of women in Baiana de Acarajé, the traditional dress of Salvador. The fact that the favela, shown directly at the opposite side of the road, is so close to the modern multi million dollar world class stadium is a clear illustration of the city's contrasting identities.
